The first themed day of the 2012 Steel, Steam and Stars gala was billed as a Scottish Day. Former Caledonian Railway 818 class 0-6-0 No. 828 was undoubtedly Scottish, and the Llangollen Railway's resident Black 5, No. 44806, ran as former Scottish Region classmate No. 44801. The third locomotive in use was BR Standard Class 7 No. 70000 Britannia.
