The theme for this year's Cotswold Festival of Steam was 'Back to Black', with five of the seven standard gauge locomotives appearing sporting British Railways black livery. Three of the seven locomotives were guests from other railways: 3850 from the WSR, 1501 from the SVR and 45379 from the MHR. The star of the show, however, was GWR 2-8-0T no. 4270, which was making its preservation era debut. Thanks to an interesting and varied timetable and some excellent weather, it was a great day out.
