Howard, the driver of Q6 No. 63395, took the shovel on the trip back to Pickering. He certainly had to work hard as the locomotive hauled its train up the 1 in 49 gradient to Goathland. This wide angle shot illustrates just how cramped the Q6 footplate actually is - I had to squeeze into the corner immediately behind the driver to keep out of the crew's way.
