Ivatt Class 2 2-6-0 no. 46521 had come to grief earlier in the day on the catch points guarding the exit from the down side siding at Quorn & Woodhouse. This accident put paid to the planned gala timetable, and the GCR did very well to resume operating the scheduled passenger services again within an hour, although all the non-passenger movements were cancelled.
