The Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway put on a mini steam gala to celebrate the line's 140th anniversary on 12th September 2009, with trains running over the half mile of track between Furnace Sidings and Whistle Inn. Only a short distance, but on a steep gradient, requiring the locomotives to work hard on the ascents. And the weather was unusually good too.
