An early start to the day to see The Railway Touring Company's steam hauled excursion from Bristol to Chester, The Cheshireman, hauled by ex-LMS Black Five 4-6-0 no. 45231 Sherwood Forester. After the train passed through a cluttered Severn Tunnel Junction station, the usual water stop at Magor allowed ample time to get up to Penpergwm to see it a second time before I went over to the nearby Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway for their Autumn gala.
